Hi, I'm Clara Bennett, the founder and creative director behind Threading the Needles. What began as a simple fascination with heritage textiles and a single worktable in my sunlit living room has blossomed into a thriving artisan textile studio. Even now, I still pause with deep gratitude that I get to spend every day doing what I love.
It all started with a search for something real. While decorating my own home, I found the market saturated with mass-produced, synthetic textiles that lacked warmth and character. I longed for pieces that felt alive—fabrics made from pure natural fibers, woven with intention, and carrying the tactile soul of human hands.
My journey began with a small roll of pure flax linen and hand-carved wooden blocks. In the early days, I hand-stamped and tailored every single pillow cover myself, learning the delicate dance of ink, pressure, and fabric grain. What started as small, bespoke batches for interior design friends quickly struck a chord with a community that valued slow craftsmanship as much as I did.
Honoring the Craft
As orders grew, so did our mission. I partnered directly with skilled heritage artisans who have practiced traditional hand block printing for generations. Together, we expanded our collection from signature artisan pillow covers to luxurious loomed throws, table linens, and made-to-order textiles.
Seeing our handmade creations find their way into thousands of homes across the world—and being featured by designers who share our love for natural, intentional living—is a dream realized beyond anything I imagined.
