About Threading the Needles

What does Threading the Needles sell?

Handmade home textiles from India: hand block printed and solid linen pillow covers, handloom cotton cushion covers, linen fabric by the yard, cotton quilts and duvet covers, linen and cotton napkins, table runners and Christmas stockings.

Where are you based?

We are based in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India, and every order ships from Jaipur.

Are your products handmade?

Yes. Our block printed pieces are printed by hand with carved wooden blocks, and our handloom pieces are woven on hand-operated looms. Because of this, small variations in print alignment, colour depth and weave are normal and make each piece slightly different. Read more on our craftsmanship page.

What is hand block printing?

A traditional Indian printing method. A design is carved into wooden blocks, the block is dipped in dye and pressed onto the fabric by hand, and the motif is repeated across the cloth. Designs with several colours use a separate block for each colour.

Orders and shipping

Which countries do you ship to?

We ship within India and to the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, most of Europe and several countries in Asia and the Middle East. Available destinations are shown at checkout.

How soon will my order ship?

Standard orders are dispatched within 3–4 business days. Custom orders take 1–2 weeks to make before they ship.

How long does delivery take?

See our shipping policy for current delivery estimates. Delivery to remote areas, or orders held in customs, can take longer.

Will I have to pay customs duties or import taxes?

For international orders, any customs duties, import taxes and clearance charges are the responsibility of the customer.

How do I track my order?

Returns

What is your return policy?

We accept returns for items that arrive damaged or defective, reported within 14 days of delivery. Email us your order number with clear photos of the damage and the packaging. Natural variation in a handmade print or weave, colour differences between screens, and change-of-mind returns are not covered. Full details are in our returns policy.

Products and sizing

Are pillow inserts included?

No. Our pillow and cushion covers are sold as covers only.

What size insert should I use?

For a full, plump look, use an insert one size larger than the cover, for example a 22 × 22 in insert in a 20 × 20 in cover. See the pillow cover size guide.

What is the difference between single-sided and double-sided?

On many of our block print pillow covers you can choose single-sided (the print is on the front) or double-sided (the print is on both sides). The option is shown on each product page where it is available.

How do the covers close?

Our linen pillow covers close with a hidden zipper.

Can I order a fabric or napkin swatch?

Yes. Our linen fabrics and solid linen napkins have a swatch option, so you can check the colour and texture before ordering a larger quantity.

What is the difference between linen and cotton?

Linen is made from flax fibres. It has a natural slub texture, feels cool and breathable, creases easily and softens with use. Cotton is softer and smoother from the start and creases less. We use linen for most pillow covers, fabric and napkins, and cotton for quilts, duvet covers, table runners and stockings.
